So, what’s the missing link, you ask? In my experience, it’s simply that—EXPERIENCE! The experience of being exposed to real-life situations, reflecting on what went right (or wrong), and having the humility to laugh, learn, and grow from it. This wealth of exposure transforms into learning experiences that delegates can relate to, laugh about, and realise they’re not alone in facing challenges.
As a young manager, I remember interacting with others in similar positions who were under pressure while others were like steam trains—full speed ahead! Some managers focused on people, while others preferred processes. That’s when I realised that the fundamentals of leadership start with self. If you can’t manage yourself, you won’t effectively lead others. And if you can’t manage processes, set standards, and treat people with trust and respect, leadership will feel like an uphill battle.
I chose a career in Learning & Development because I care—deeply. I care about supporting managers at all levels in developing their professional people skills. Our stories bring concepts to life, and our coaches and facilitators.
I feel privileged to have worked with diverse cultures, people with differing beliefs, and various nationalities. It’s fascinating—I love it! We’ve worked with medical teams, teachers, head teachers, commercial and marketing, financial teams, hospitality professionals, production supervisors, managers, and inspiring leaders with challenging targets.
